9th of November

Today sta62rted like any other day. We went to school at 9 o‘clock. When everyone had arrived we went to the University by foot. 

At the science department of the University we got a lecture about hydrogen and it benefits as an energy resource. At the lecture we saw how water is

electrolyzed to hydrogen and oxygen.  At the lecture we got to try a special bike which when we peddled it we created energy. We also gat to look around at the science stuff at the University e.g. we saw the colour scale of hydrogen.

After we had seen the University we had some free time to go and get  something to eat and have a closer look at the town.

We arrived to school at 13.30 started to finish our project from the day before. We created a car out of rubbish.

When we had done that we went by bus to the Hill Of Crosses. That was really amazing. You should have seen all those crosses they are not hundred, not thousands, but millions. It was really amazing.

8th of November

Today we met a47t the school at 9 o‘clock.  The Icelandic students did their presentations on alternative energy resources and their application in Iceland.  Then the Lithuanian students gave presentations on a simular subject. We watched a short movie about ecological situation in the world.


We ate lunce in th school cafeteria, which was good.  After lunch we worked in mixed groups, Icelanders and Lithuanians, and were suppose48d to make artwork from trash.   

Around two o‘clock we visited the NATO base at Siauliai military airport.  The Danish airforce is patroling the Lithuanian airspace and we got to see the F-16 fighter planes they use for that. For many in the group it was probably the highligt of the trip to Lithuania to visit the air force base. For the Icelanders it was also a new experience to see armed soldiers guarding the premises.

7th of November

31Today we met at the school at nine o‘clock and began to play a game how to get to know each other better. Then we took a tour around the school and got to see what the classrooms are like. 

After that we went back to the lecture hall and the Icelandic students gave presentations about Iceland. After the presentations everyone went to lunch.  Some went home and some went to town.  32

At two o‘clock we were back at school and the Lithuanian students gave their presentations about Lithuania. 

After that we all went by bus and visited an old windmill where we took part in an educational program and learned to bake ecological bread. 

Then we got some free time and of course some of the girls wanted to shop a little but someone just went home.

6th of November

15

Today we went sightseeing in the center of Siauliai, we met at one o‘clock in the middle of the town, at a place called Kukalu which is the town clock.

The places that we saw where very intresting.  We saw a metal fox by the lake of Talksa and a golden archer that is the top of a sundial and visited  the cemetery where the philosopher Stasys Šalkauskis,  the school we

are visiting is named after him, is burried and also saw some mausoleums. 

 

We finished the tour by going to the cathedral of Peter and Paul.

After that we went to a pizza place called Chilipica, which was very good.  We had free-time with our friends  at the end of the day, some went to the shoping center, sauna, movie and some went to play pool with their friends.

5th of November

5We woke  up just before 5 and after breakfast are we went to the airport. We checked in and waited for the flight to Amsterdam where we stopped for 2 hours. Our flight to Riga was on time and lasted just over two hours. We stopped longer than we expected at the airport because one the suitcases got left behind in Amsterdam. The people at the airport promised that the

6suitcase would arrive as soon as possible.

 

 

7We went by bus to Lithuania and we were quite relieved when we got the border because the roads are much better in Lithuania than in Latvia. We were having fun in the bus looking forward to meeting the people we have been talking to and staying in their homes for a week.
